Diseases

Knowing which illnesses are most common, and whether they are becoming more or less frequent, helps explain the health challenges a society faces. This section follows how many new cases of major diseases are recorded each year, from chronic conditions such as cancer and diabetes to infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and HIV.

It also covers mental health, alcohol and drug addiction, and the diseases that vaccines protect against, comparing how widespread they are with how many people are vaccinated.
