About this metric
The employment rate shows what share of the population has a job. The chart shows it for everyone and separately for men and women, from 2008 to 2024.
In 2024 it was 51.2%: 61.8% among men and 42.0% among women, a gap of 19.8 percentage points. The highest rate in the period was 53.2% in 2013 and the lowest 47.7% in 2018. After 2020 (47.8%) it rose every year until 2023 (52.8%), then slipped in 2024.
In 2018 armstat revised the labour force survey, so figures before and after 2018 are not strictly comparable. The women's rate went from 43.5% in 2017 to 38.1% in 2018, while the men's rate went from 57.9% to 58.8%.
