Average pension compared with average wage
Average pension as a percentage of the average monthly nominal wage
EEnlightUpdated: Sep 15, 2026
About this metric
This metric sets the average pension in Armenia against the average monthly nominal wage. For example, 17.3% means the average pension is 17.3% of the average wage. It shows whether pensions keep pace with earnings.
From 2014 to 2020 the ratio stayed between 22.1% and 24.5% (the highest, in 2017). Since 2020 it has fallen every year, from 23.2% to 17.3% in 2024, the lowest of the years shown.
The fall means that the average wage grew faster than the average pension. Wages from 2017 onward come from tax authority (State Revenue Committee) records, which may affect comparison with earlier years.
