EEnlightUpdated: Dec 17, 2025

About this metric

The poverty rate shows what share of Armenia's population is classed as poor under the national definition. The chart also shows the extremely poor, who are part of the poor.

In 2008 the rate was 27.6%. It rose to 35.8% in 2010, the highest of the years shown, and fell to 23.5% by 2018. It went up again to 26.4% in 2019 and 27.0% in 2020, then fell every year to 21.7% in 2024, the lowest in the period.

The extremely poor were 1.6% of the population in 2008, 3.7% in 2011 (the highest) and 0.6% in 2024 (the lowest).

The 2024 survey weights were recalibrated to the 2022 census population, so the 2024 figures are not comparable with 2022 and 2023.
