About this metric
This metric shows what share of all loans that commercial banks have outstanding to residents of Armenia are mortgage loans, at the end of each month from April 2005. Loans in drams and in foreign currency are counted together. It compares the stock of mortgage loans with the stock of all loans, not new loans issued in a month.
In August 2026 mortgage loans were 20.7% of all bank loans, down from 21.9% in August 2025. The share peaked at 23.2% in December 2024.
In April 2005 the share was only 4.0%. It reached 13.8% in February 2009, fell to 7.8% by February 2013, and was 11.9% at the end of 2020. Since October 2022 it has stayed above 20%: roughly one bank loan in five is now a home loan.
