EEnlightUpdated: Nov 11, 2025
About this metric
Not all of the water put into public water supply networks reaches consumers. The chart shows the share of the water supplied to the network that the source records as losses, as a percentage, for each year from 2000 to 2024.
In 2024, losses were 67.4% of the water supplied to the network: 352.7 of 523.2. The source states no unit for these volumes.
The share rose from 66.0% in 2000 to 84.6% in 2007, the highest in the period shown, and fell to 75.1% in 2016. It rose again to 79.4% in 2018 and has fallen every year since, six years in a row. The 2024 value is the lowest since 2002 (67.0%).
