Greenhouse gas emissions by sector
Thousand tonnes of CO2 equivalent (kt), inventory years
About this metric
This metric splits Armenia's greenhouse gas emissions into four sectors: energy, industrial processes and product use, agriculture and waste. The chart shows each sector's emissions in kt of CO2 equivalent for the inventory years 1990 to 2022.
In 2022 the total was 13.3 million tonnes. Energy made up 66.5% of it (8.9 million tonnes), agriculture 14.9% (2.0 million), industrial processes and product use 12.1% (1.6 million) and waste 6.5% (0.9 million). The shares are of the total before land use and forestry.
In 1990 energy made up 87.3% of the 26.8 million tonnes total. Its emissions in 2022 are 62.1% lower. Over the same years industrial processes and product use grew about 2.5 times (from 0.6 to 1.6 million tonnes) and waste rose from 0.6 to 0.9 million tonnes, while agriculture fell from 2.2 to 2.0 million tonnes.
