Specially protected areas in Armenia include state reserves, national parks and state preserves. The chart shows their total area in thousand hectares.
In 2024 it came to 383.1 thousand hectares, 13% of the country's territory. The area has been the same since 2016. In 2024 there were 3 state reserves (35.5 thousand ha), 4 national parks (233.5 thousand ha) and 27 state preserves (114.1 thousand ha). The table also counts 233 monuments of nature.
In 2000 the area was 303 thousand hectares. It reached 315 in 2006, fell to 291 in 2007 and rose to 373 in 2009. The highest value, 384 thousand hectares, was recorded in 2013 and 2014. The source does not give a reason for these changes.
