Agriculture
Agriculture is regarded, in both international and Armenian statistical practice, as one of the core sectors of the economy, alongside industry, construction, services, and trade.
Unlike most other economic sectors, where data are usually published on a monthly basis, agricultural statistics are released quarterly. This reflects the time needed to collect, process, consolidate, and publish the relevant information. Annual summary data on agriculture are presented in the Statistical Yearbook of Armenia.
Agriculture is one of the fundamental pillars of any economy. Together with its main subsectors — crop production and livestock farming — it plays an essential role in ensuring food security.
Crop production covers the value of output obtained from the harvest of the given year, the value of cultivating young perennial plantations, and changes in the value of work-in-progress between the beginning and the end of the year.
Livestock production covers the value of raising agricultural animals, poultry, and other animals, as well as the production of milk, wool, eggs, honey, and other related products.
