About this metric
This metric shows what share of household consumer spending in Armenia goes to food. It is the per capita spending on food divided by the per capita consumer spending, both national averages from the household survey.
The share fell from 57.4% in 2006 to 39.9% in 2020, the lowest in the series, with small rises in 2010 and 2011. In 2021 it jumped to 47.1%: spending on food rose from 20,715 to 23,532 AMD per person while total spending fell from 51,907 to 49,999 AMD.
In 2024 food took 43.5% of spending (26,526 of 60,941 AMD per person), after 42.9% in 2023.
