Convicts by type of punishment

This metric shows how many convicts received each type of punishment in Armenia each year from 2016 to 2025. Only the types that exceeded 100 convicts in at least one year are shown.

Up to and including 2020, imprisonment was the most common punishment: in 2016 it was given to 1,449 convicts and a fine to 806. Since 2021 fines have been the most common, rising from 1,182 in 2021 to 5,289 in 2025.

In 2025, 896 people were sentenced to imprisonment, about one sixth of the number who were fined. Public works appear in the data from 2021, and short-term imprisonment and restriction of freedom from 2023.
