Postgraduate students

Postgraduate studies (aspirantura) are advanced study for people who already hold a higher education degree. The chart shows the number of postgraduate students each year from 2010 to 2024, and how many study at higher education institutions and at scientific organizations.

The number fell from 1,232 in 2010 to 719 in 2024. It peaked at 1,241 in 2013, stayed above 1,000 until 2017 and has been below 1,000 since 2018.

Most postgraduate students study at higher education institutions: 534 of the 719 in 2024, against 185 at scientific organizations.
