Learners at each level of education in 2025

The education system starts with kindergarten and continues with school, college or university. The chart shows how many learners there were at each level in 2025, state and private institutions together.

The largest level is general school, with 424,938 pupils, about two thirds of the learners at the six levels shown. Preschool institutions had 86,797 children, first-degree university programs 78,897 students and colleges 41,029 students.

Master's programs had 10,020 students and craft schools 9,029. PhD students are not included, because the latest data for them is from 2024.
