Pupils of music and art schools by section in 2025

Music, art and fine art schools give children lessons outside regular school. The chart shows how many of their 62,072 pupils in 2025 study in each section, from the largest to the smallest.

Piano is the largest section, with 11,016 pupils (17.7%), followed by fine art with 10,680 and dance art with 9,879. Together these three have 31,575 pupils, just over half (50.9%).

Folk instruments (6,842) and vocal (5,895) come next. Nine of the 19 sections have fewer than 1,000 pupils, and the smallest, history of art, has just 39. Another 5,036 pupils are in sections the source groups as other.
