Loans to households and businesses
Outstanding loans at end of month, AMD (drams and foreign currency), commercial banks
About this metric
This metric compares the loans that commercial banks have outstanding to households and to non-financial businesses in Armenia at the end of each month, from January 2005. Loans in drams and in foreign currency are counted together, in drams. It is the amount still owed, not the new loans issued in a month.
In August 2026 households owed banks 4.23 trillion drams and businesses 3.71 trillion. Over the year to August, household loans grew by 22.0% and business loans by 23.5%.
In January 2005 households owed 54.35 billion drams and businesses 71.36 billion. Households owed more than businesses from December 2006 to June 2009, and businesses owed more from July 2009 to May 2022. Since June 2022 households have owed more in every month. At the end of 2025 the figures were 3.73 trillion for households and 3.26 trillion for businesses.
