EEnlightUpdated: Sep 30, 2026

About this metric

The current account is the part of the balance of payments that records a country's trade in goods and services, the income it earns from abroad and pays abroad, and transfers such as remittances. A negative balance (a deficit) means Armenia paid abroad more than it received. This metric shows the balance for each year from 1993 to 2025, in US dollars.

In 2025 the deficit was 2.55 billion US dollars, the largest in the series. In 1993 it was 67.73 million.

Every year in the series ended in a deficit. It widened to 1.66 billion in 2008, narrowed to 100.88 million in 2016, and in 2022 fell to 85.80 million, the smallest since 2004. Since then it has widened each year: 857.30 million in 2023, 1.62 billion in 2024 and 2.55 billion in 2025.
