Cultural participation per 1,000 people
Visits or spectators per 1,000 people per year
About this metric
This metric compares how often people in Armenia use four cultural services: museums, theatres, concerts and libraries. For each, the yearly number of visits or spectators is divided by the population, per 1,000 people.
In 2025 there were 1,082.1 museum visits and 1,081.3 library visits per 1,000 people, 235.8 theatre spectators and 87.1 concert spectators. Museum visits were highest in 2023, at 1,149.7. Library visits fell from 1,862.9 in 2012 to 1,081.3 in 2025. They were above museum visits in every year from 2012 to 2022; museum visits were higher in 2023 and 2025, and library visits in 2024.
In 2020 museum visits fell to 241.1, theatre spectators to 67.2 and library visits to 656.5 per 1,000 people, the lowest value of each series. Concert spectators went the other way: 214.4 in 2020, the highest value of that series, up from 81.7 in 2019 and down to 51.5 in 2021. The source gives no explanation for the 2020 concert figure.
The rates are calculated from the counts and the average population, so they differ slightly (by up to 1.5%) from the rates armstat publishes itself.
