City streets by type of surface
Length of streets and crossings in cities by surface, end of year, km (unit not stated in the source)
About this metric
The chart shows the length of streets and crossings in Armenia's cities by type of surface, as recorded in the Statistical Committee's table on the road economy of cities. It covers streets inside cities, not the public roads between settlements. The source does not state the unit; the lengths are taken to be kilometres.
At the end of 2024 the streets and crossings totalled 4,023.5 km: 2,807.8 asphalt concrete, 106.1 cement concrete, 270 gravel and rubble (slag) and 839.6 ground. In 2012, of 3,645.9 km, 2,574.6 were asphalt concrete, 53.3 cement concrete, 199.9 gravel and rubble, and 818.1 ground.
The total was highest in 2024 and fell in 2021 and 2022. In the source those falls are in Syunik (from 298.3 in 2020 to 262.2 in 2021) and Shirak (from 344.7 to 280.3 in 2022). Cement concrete reached 137.8 in 2023, then 106.1 in 2024. Some marzes report the same length for many years, so small year-to-year changes should be read with care.
