About this metric
The chart compares two figures from the Statistical Committee's health system data: the number of hospital beds and the number of patients admitted to hospitals. Both are shown as an index, with 2011 equal to 100, because the two numbers differ greatly in size.
Admitted patients rose from 346,999 in 2011 to 536,826 in 2025, the highest in the series, an index of 154.7. In 2020 the number fell to 394,470 from 435,470 in 2019.
The number of hospital beds was 12,236 in 2011 and 11,900 in 2025, an index of 97.3. It ranged from 11,778 in 2019 to 12,871 in 2020.
