Caesarean births

The chart shows caesarean sections per 100 births accepted in medical obstetric care institutions in Armenia. It is calculated from two tables of the Statistical Committee: caesarean sections performed in maternity care facilities, divided by births accepted in obstetric care institutions.

The ratio rose from 21.7 in 2011 to 40.7 in 2025, and it was higher than in the previous year in every year of the period.

In 2025 there were 12,963 caesarean sections among 31,868 births. The number of caesarean sections was highest in 2023 (14,198), while the number of births fell from 43,301 in 2011 to 31,868 in 2025.
