Price changes by spending category in 2025

This metric shows how much consumer prices changed in 2025 in each of the 12 main groups of household spending, compared with 2024. It is the average price level over 2025 against the average over 2024.

Education rose the most, by 8.0%, followed by alcohol and tobacco (6.0%) and food (5.0%). Transport rose by 4.8%. Clothing and footwear was the only group that got cheaper, by 1.5%.

For all groups together prices rose by 3.3%. Housing and utilities (0.7%), other goods and services (0.5%) and communication (0.1%) rose by less than 1%, and household goods did not change (0.0%).
